Credentials & Accreditation
Credentials and Accreditation are indicators of high quality standards. Credentials are based on the individual meeting these quality standards. Accreditation indicates the program has achieved these higher standards.
CREDENTIALS:
NYS School Age Child Care Credential
The Council's coursework is for those interested in working toward a School Age Child Care Credential.
Fee - $2000
Who is eligible?
Candidate must be working with school age children in center-based, school-based, or family/group family child care
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent

Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
Who is eligible?
Be 18 years of age or older
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
Have 480 hours of experience working with children within the past five years*
Have 120 hours of formal education and training within the past five years
- $2000 – 120 hour course and one observation
- $400 – one observation and Practicum (4 classes and portfolio review)
- $200 - one observation and review of portfolio
- $125 – one observation for those who have completed 120 hours of formal education
- $40 - additional observation
