Once you have become a Registered/Licensed Professional, the Child Care Council will offer you FREE advertising by adding you into our Referral Database. When a parent calls looking for child care, their information is entered into the database. If your program matches the services the parent is looking for, your name and telephone number will be given to the parent. We cannot guarantee referrals to your program and the Child Care Council does not recommend nor endorse any particular individual or program. If you are a Registered/Licensed Professional and would like more information on our Referral Services please contact us.

Health and Safety Grants

As a licensed/registered group/family child care provider you may be eligible for a health and safety grant to help you stay in compliance with regulations. Call (845) 294-4012 for more information..

Keep on Learning: Training meets regulations and improves quality care!
By becoming a Registered /Licensed program you will be required by law to complete a minimum of 30 training hours per registration period to keep your registration/license in good standing. The training requirements include:

  • Principles of Early Childhood Development
  • Child Day Care Program Development
  • Nutrition and Health Needs of Infants and Children
  • Safety and Security Procedures
  • Business Record Maintenance and Management
  • Child Abuse and Maltreatment Identification and Prevention
  • Statutes and regulations pertaining to Child Abuse and Maltreatment
  • Statutes and regulations pertaining to Child Care
  • Education and Information on Identification, Diagnoses and Prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome

Laws and Regulations Pertaining to Child Care and Child Abuse and Maltreatment Many of these trainings will be offered to you through SUNY (State University of New York) and will be administered by the Council. Other types of training are also available and will be announced semi-annually in our Training Calendar. Once you become registered/licensed, we will send you our training calendar (sent tri-annually) or go to the Downloads section.

The Child Care Council of Orange County, Inc. is an approved Sponsor for CACFP (the Child and Adult Care Food Program

Being a participant of CACFP benefits the children in your care with receiving good nutrition. The program benefits the provider with nutrition training and monetary reimbursement for certain meals served. For more information, contact Stephanie at

Financial Assistance
Financial Aid, beyond Start-Up and Health & Safety Grants, may be available to you, if you meet the income eligibility requirements. The 2 types of assistance are:

  • Educational Incentive Program (EIP): EIP-sponsored by the NYS Office of Children and Families (OCFS) and is administered by the SUNY Early Childhood Education and Training Program. It promotes the professional and career development of those working in child care by reimbursing providers for qualified credit bearing and non-credit bearing courses and activities.   • Scholarships for Child Care Council Members: this is a scholarship program which earns money from fundraising, special events, and donations to assist child care providers who are experiencing financial difficulty with training fees and who are not eligible for EIP. The following limits are necessary for the Council’s scholarship program: The Council must have funds in the account from fundraising, special events, and donations; Scholarships will be considered if: A provider attends multiple classes in a series; A child care program is sending three or more staff members Please contact the Child Care Council for more information on the availability of scholarships.

Lending Library
The Council offers programs access to its Lending Library site at 40 Matthews Street Suite 307 Goshen, NY 10924. Providers can borrow books, toys, and equipment. By appointment only Call (845) 294-4012
